A French Box with carving and marquetry decoration

This is the carved fretwork box with marquetry decoration. This superb quality box was probably made in France in the 19th century. Main problem was the missing carvings. This is a rare George II mahogany double-ratcheted architects/ reading table attributed to Mayhew and Ince circa 1755-60. The bracket feet of these commodes had been cut down and the gilt-bronze mounts had been moved.
